Moments in Time – Memories of East Vancouver is a book about being a child of the 1970’s and 80’s and living in East Vancouver.  The watercolour images capture fading memories of the joyful and colourful sights and smells of neighbourhoods in East Vancouver.

This book was written for the purpose of sharing memories and connecting current day stories with those of the past.  The style of this book…to read, pause and reminisce and then to question, will hopefully have you thinking about your favourite memories and then sharing them with your loved ones.

This book is available in different editions with text in three different languages.

  • English – Moments in Time – Memories of East Vancouver

  • English and Punjabi – Moments in Time – Memories of East Vancouver - ਸਮੇਂ ਦੇ ਪਲ - ਈਸਟ ਵੈਨਕੂਵਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਯਾਦਾਂ

Talk to Me, What Do You See? Beauty and Joy from A-Z

“Talk to Me, What Do You See?  Beauty and Joy from A – Z” was illustrated by Anika Sandhu and published in March 2021. The story is an alphabet book that showcases positive things to focus on in times of despair and on a daily basis. This book is filled with images about diversity and inclusivity.

Sandip published “Talk to Me, What Do You See? Beauty and Joy from A – Z” during the Covid-19 pandemic. All around, she heard people express their fear and stresses and Sandip was looking for something uplifting to focus on rather than all the negativity that was in the news.  She reflected on what she saw when she went on walks, or what she heard from her friends and family. The original story draft from 2018 was tweaked and completed to reflect the world issues of 2020 - 2022.

Sandip wanted the images to be engaging, realistic and spark some conversation, so, she reached out to her friend's daughter, Anika Sandhu, an Art History student, in Victoria, to paint the images.  Both Sandip and Anika are people who want to see more diversity in all works of art.

Ms. Chievus in the Classroom

“Ms. Chievus in the Classroom” is Sandip’s first picture book.  It was illustrated by Ken and Janet Priebe and was published in March 2020.   This is a humorous book with cartoon-like images about a class of students that have a difficult time being at school. Some of the events in the book are based on actual scenarios that occurred during Sandip’s early days of teaching. Using some unconventional ways and playfulness, Ms. Chievus attempts to teach Division O-O about mutual respect.
